I thought when you get your growth cards up to max they became one time use and if you lost the unit in battle, thats it, they are gone for ever. mind a barracks is practiacly mandatory if you want to use growth before you have unlocked stuff, but its a pretty common card, and armories and camps still amp base stats nicely. The growth mechanic makes any buffs become huge so it was not uncomon to have the legionars/hammers/longbow rats have 70-120 damage. I think unlocking the ability to put points towards your early game cards to improve the odds they are called would be good. then you might as well restart, or if you barely survive a wave you have no time to recover anything as the next wave is already activated. you have everything going against the player continuously, and since the game is RNG, the player basically cannot ever come back, being constantly under the gun and if you dont get great cards. These waves are too close together near the end of the game, the enemies are tough as it is with alot of buffs that prevent your army skills ( no knock back etc. As a result, the next enemy will be called more quickly.
